Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?

Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction" gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

I thought about your post some more and I realized you are incorrect. The gesture DOES WORK with a touch cover 2, it DOES NOT work with the type cover 2. So again, please do not make excuses for a mistake on Microsoft's part, just fix the driver for the Type Cover 2.

I have tested this extensively and can verify it does work with the touch cover but not the type cover on both new and first gen Surface Pros.

FIX THIS Microsoft, please.

Thats awesome.... if you had documented your product properly in the 1st place i would not have made the purchase. The fact you are not even prepared to rectify the the problem is even more irritating. What a waste of money

Thank you Steven for answering. However, that is really unacceptable considering that is a common gesture on track pads for most laptops and one that makes it very useful.

This really sounds like a cop our vs a real answer. It is easy to say that we will fix the documentation to reflect our lack of features that should have been there. How about we get a real solution as this would be a simple driver update to make it work.

If for some reason a person doesn't want the feature once the driver is fixed. Then give an option to turn it off, but WHY would Microsoft take such a well used gesture away in a Revision 2 keyboard when it worked in the original? That does not make sense and really makes it necessary to use a mouse more to be more productive.

The gesture you are recommending is far more cumbersome and error prone.
