With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.
Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad
Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?
Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

Greetings all,
The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction" gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.
The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.
We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

2014-02-13T21:13:26+00:00 Trust me. I've written to Terry Myerson and got the typical "FU" feedback that he'll pass it on to the development team. No confirmation that it would be added as a feature. At this point I certainly hope the new CEO would reconsider his position there at MSFT. The man is almost useless in my opinion.

It doesn't work on Touch Cover 2 either. Also I wouldn't hold my breath for an update from Microsoft, it's been over 3 months since the issue was first reported. The lack of feedback tells me this hasn't even been flagged to the dev team.

2014-02-13T20:51:52+00:00 It works on my Type Cover 1 and Touch Cover 1. From what I've read, others say it works on the Touch Cover 2. Is there some kind of hardware limitation that doesn't double touch and drag to work on the Type Cover 2? It's still not working on my Type Cover 2 since the last update (though that was for 2 finger improvements).
Hope it gets fixed soon!
Thanks.
