Double tap to left click and drag on trackpad

Hello, I was trying to find a way to click and drag by using the Type Cover 2 trackpad without keeping the left mouse button pressed. Most touchpads nowadays register a rapid double click as a "left click and drag" command and, according to the documentation on Microsoft's website, the Type Cover 2 should as well. However, I tried to use the feature both in Desktop programs and UI apps with no success. How to left click and drag without keeping the trackpad's left mouse button pressed?

Edit: called the customer service, and I was told that the team is aware of the issue and that a fix is planned.

With 8.1 update 1, type/touch cover 2 can now perform double tap-drag. All hail lord Microsoft.

Greetings all,

The “Tap, then tap and slide one finger in any direction"  gesture to perform a “left-click and drag” is not supported in Windows 8.1 for precision touchpads such as Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2.

The “left-click and drag” function can be performed on Touch Cover 2 and Type Cover 2 by holding the left touchpad button down and then sliding a finger in any direction.

We’ll be updating the inaccurate information in Touchpad: A built-in mouse.

    Add me to the list of annoyed users. Like the others, I used the one finger click and drag feature all the time but since moving to a Type Cover 2, I've lost that ability. Having to hold down the left button and move things with another finger is not nearly as efficient. I was in the Microsoft Store in San Antonio and the reps there were baffled at why it wouldn't work. Especially since the documentation states that it will. 

    Microsoft needs to patch this ability back in soon.

    I am working with an original Microsoft Surface Pro. I also have all the drivers updated (At least none are listed to be installed.) I notice this most when working within Microsoft Word. The problem does not happen if I switch back to my old touch cover. I also notice that when typing in Evernote, the cursor will suddenly jump to the bottom of the note I am typing. Again, changing to the touch cover causes this behavior to go away. I am wondering if this problem is along the same issue as has been reported with certain games and the type cover 2.

    UPDATE: I purchased another Type Cover 2 and the problem with the cursor and trackpad seems to have gone away. I also noticed that the "Alt" key seemed to stick at times. Perhaps that is what was causing the cursor to jump around when I typed?  I will be returning what I suspect to be a defective keyboard and watch to see if my replacement one holds up. (I contacted MS for an RMA and was given one without any problems.)

    Yes, since removing the old touchcover and connecting the typecover2 i have installed/upgraded from windows 8 pro to windows 8.1 pro...i had the problem before and after the update... i currently have all latest updates from microsoft. My machine is a 1st Gen 128gb surface Pro. Also, still, if i swap back to the old touchcover it works flawlessly...perhaps a driver update is required. I also recently bought an HP notebook which had win8pro it worked fine...upgraded to win 8.1pro and it still works fine...the issue i reckon must lie with the touchtype2 driver...Your thoughts?
