Surface Pro Pen pressure sensitivity is not working in photoshop CS6.

True, Microsoft doesn't have to do it the same way other OEMs have in the past, but since Wacom has released the driver already, and Microsoft hasn't said anything (If they had it might be perceived as meaning that Surface Pro users NEED this driver, which they don't.) I would be very surprised if this became part of an official MS update.  (Maybe an optional update, but I highly doubt it will be a required update.)

Like I said, they might surprise me, but I'm not going to hold my breath.  I installed Wacom's driver, and I sense that it's case-closed now.  Just my $0.02.

But this is the first Microsoft branded/released hardware. We won't know what their plans are unless they actually start responding and tell us.

This is incorrect. Microsoft will deliver this driver via Windows Update. Microsoft has taken dramatic steps in driver update deliver with Windows 7-8. You can count on it being pushed out at some point as a System Hardware Update in preparation for BUILD and the rumored announcement of Xbox Infinity, a 7 inch Surface and/or Surface Pro v2.

The Surface Pro's drivers have all been handled internally and fed out via Windows Update. There is no reason at all the pen/stylus would be any different. It being such a minor piece of the SP, it is additionally highly unlikely to cause any major conflicts. My guess is MS is testing the update package for issues before sending it out. This is in addition to the fact that MS has been chiming in for a while with updates about the beta driver and that it is being tested and that they are working on it internally.

As there was a Wacom, generic driver included in Windows for the Surface Pro that allowed the pen to function it only stands to reason that MS will deliver a package with this driver. I sincerely doubt MS will sit idly and say to the artist/designers: "Go to Wacom.com!" The SP is their product and they have so far delivered 739 fixes/patches/driver updates.

But again, why wait?

Did you just install the driver or do you uninstall something first?

Just install it.   it is made to cooperate with the MS driver, so they don't conflict.

That is a good point. How about people who have one and are not religiously following this thread? I think it would be good if it was included in a Windows Update.

This isn't going to happen.  TabletPCs have shipped this way for years.  The basic driver is included, and the advanced Wacom driver is almost always separate.  I've had to do this on my Toshiba Tablets, HP, IBM, etc.  They aren't going to include any drivers that the average person may not need (That's Windows Rule #1. Driver conflicts can crash systems, and without knowing what else you're going to install, keep it third-party.)  If you need it, you now have it available as we always have in the past.

Kudos to Wacom for getting this out, and kudos to Microsoft for working so closely with them to make it a reality faster.
