My Surface Book 2 i7 256gb is experiencing coil whine.

Is there anyway to get around this?

Definitely notice coil whine whenever my SB2 is plugged into charging and on high performance mode. I am concerned about this issue as I was hoping issues like these didn't come with such a high price tag.

Update 8/1/2018:

Thank you for your feedback. We have published a set of drivers and system updates which helps mitigate this issue. This is now available in Windows Update.

We recommend that you install the latest updates to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

As a temporary workaround, we suggest that when your Surface is plugged into the power supply, click on the battery icon in the Windows taskbar and set the Power Mode slider to either “Recommended” or “Better performance.”

    The whine happening seems very random. One wonders if it is hardware/install related and if MS can fix it by using different hardware or different coil setup. The fact that the default 'fix' I read is exchanging the device (for a refurbished one), leads me to believe you need to be lucky your device was assembled correctly. Not sure what to think of this and if I want to roll a $3k dice. Shame as the device seems amazing and really not close alternative.

    The whine happening seems very random. 

    On my machine it was highly consistent with 1709 and now isn't present on 1803.  Circumstantial for sure, but nevertheless, resolved (after 6 hours of no whine).

    This is not fixed. I am on Windows 10 build 1803 and the coil whine noise is still present.

    SO FRUSTRATING....

    I have had enough. I am taking this to twitter hash tag "#SurfaceBook2CoilWhineNoise". This thread has been marked as "ANSWERED" when it should NOT have. The Surface technical support team keeps ignoring our comments.

    Apparently I cant get a full refund as I have passed the 30 days period. GIVE ME A FULL REFUND

    you guys did try out to change the energy plans as posted earlier right?

    For this you need to temporarily switch off the Connected Standby to be able to make the required changes and afterwards you can put it back up. Apparently something in the balanced energy plan causes that trouble.

    It's a bit unconvenient to ask your customers to solve such problems on their own, but I'd give it a try anyway and see if it reduces the noise for you.

    Will be interesting to see what MS says about it, if they say anything about it at all.
