My Surface Book 2 i7 256gb is experiencing coil whine.

Is there anyway to get around this?

Definitely notice coil whine whenever my SB2 is plugged into charging and on high performance mode. I am concerned about this issue as I was hoping issues like these didn't come with such a high price tag.

Update 8/1/2018:

Thank you for your feedback. We have published a set of drivers and system updates which helps mitigate this issue. This is now available in Windows Update.

We recommend that you install the latest updates to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

As a temporary workaround, we suggest that when your Surface is plugged into the power supply, click on the battery icon in the Windows taskbar and set the Power Mode slider to either “Recommended” or “Better performance.”

    Wow, thanks for the prompt response. I may wait just a little bit still to see more positive responses but that is hopeful. The machine spec is amazing so it would work well for me. Nasty noises though, not so much....

    Would be nice if MS would actually come out with a statement or something to put some confidence in the product for future customers.

    I wouldn't purchase it until MS make an official announcement that it is fixed. If you are sensitive to coil whine noise you will regret it.

    @RKWD Could you try and load the camera app and see if the coil whine noise starts? Doesn't matter if the Surface is plugged in to power supply.

    As @MarcDBB didn't agree it is fixed...

    I am on Windows 10 Build 1803 and will test my surface book 2 this evening. I will report back with my findings.

    Thanks, paying $3000 for a device that I will regret buying doesnt sound like a good idea. I'll wait 2 months for MS to make a statement and will shop around if that doesn't come. If anywhere, one would expect MS to post on their community page if it is fixed.

    The whine only happened on my machine when on full power running three external monitors via a Dell D3100 USB3 port replicator.  But... fired up the camera app and no whine.  That was on full power on the laptop screen.

    One side note: no whine, but the device does feel hotter than before. Will monitor.
