My Surface Book 2 i7 256gb is experiencing coil whine.

Is there anyway to get around this?

Definitely notice coil whine whenever my SB2 is plugged into charging and on high performance mode. I am concerned about this issue as I was hoping issues like these didn't come with such a high price tag.

Update 8/1/2018:

Thank you for your feedback. We have published a set of drivers and system updates which helps mitigate this issue. This is now available in Windows Update.

We recommend that you install the latest updates to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

As a temporary workaround, we suggest that when your Surface is plugged into the power supply, click on the battery icon in the Windows taskbar and set the Power Mode slider to either “Recommended” or “Better performance.”

You can find the details of the latest update on our Surface Book 2 update history page.

Its another frustrating thingy to be left on phone-idle for more than 30minutes.. well done - Support Microsoft. Thats in europe/portugal. I have talked to a Surface Book support guy who says Microsoft knows the problem (according to him its not a problem as hardware is not doing anything danger) and that it is happening on ALL surface books... Yes, you can replace the device but the new device will also lack coil whine. There is no information when or if Microsoft will address this problem. Of course, its cheaper doing nothing.

No, they do not work with Surface Books in Microsoft Support Center.

One solution to get more attention is to get replacements again and again all over the world.. thats what i will do if no feedbacks coming in soon.

Hi, I just bought the SB2, 15", 512GB and I'm experiencing coil whine when set to better/best performance mode. THIS ONLY HAPPENS WHEN THE LAPTOP IS CHARGING!

The coil whine completely goes away when the charger is disconnected. Is there a fix to reduce the coil whine when the laptop is charging?

P.S. side question: is it bad to always leave the laptop connected to the charger? I'm getting a lot of mixed replies. What's your opinion.

    Thanks in advance!

Short answer, get a full refund if you can. I went through 7 devices and all had the same issue. If this was something Microsoft could fix through a firmware/driver update, they would have done it by now...
