My Surface Book 2 i7 256gb is experiencing coil whine.

Is there anyway to get around this?

Definitely notice coil whine whenever my SB2 is plugged into charging and on high performance mode. I am concerned about this issue as I was hoping issues like these didn't come with such a high price tag.

Update 8/1/2018:

Thank you for your feedback. We have published a set of drivers and system updates which helps mitigate this issue. This is now available in Windows Update.

We recommend that you install the latest updates to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

As a temporary workaround, we suggest that when your Surface is plugged into the power supply, click on the battery icon in the Windows taskbar and set the Power Mode slider to either “Recommended” or “Better performance.”

You can find the details of the latest update on our Surface Book 2 update history page.

Giving a shout a the Youtube tech community could be an idea too, it's a win/win situation, it will generate views.

    Hi fabricyao,

Journalist, BBC, Consumer Report... That's a really good idea!

Whatever we can do to make Microsoft pay attention.

Because... we all know that they're not paying attention now.

Maybe we should get a journalist to make it public. Microsoft will probably start to listen.

There are so many other threads open regarding the same issue. I might contact BBC UK see if they are interested. Also ask them to get in touch with consumer report..

I got two of them. One 16/512 and one 8/256. The 16 had awful coil whine ; the 8/256 was quite ok, as long as tou stay in recommended mode or intermediary performance. Once you got in best performance, both got strong coil whine. In the end, i stuck to my 2017 macbook pro and sent both back. You get less graphic performancr and versatility with apple, but quality control is SSSOOOOOO much better than microosft (i have a surface book 1 too and exchanged it three times....).

i might give he 15 a try nevertheless....
