My Surface Book 2 i7 256gb is experiencing coil whine.

Is there anyway to get around this?

Definitely notice coil whine whenever my SB2 is plugged into charging and on high performance mode. I am concerned about this issue as I was hoping issues like these didn't come with such a high price tag.

Update 8/1/2018:

Thank you for your feedback. We have published a set of drivers and system updates which helps mitigate this issue. This is now available in Windows Update.

We recommend that you install the latest updates to keep your Surface performing its best. You can get updates now by checking Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.

As a temporary workaround, we suggest that when your Surface is plugged into the power supply, click on the battery icon in the Windows taskbar and set the Power Mode slider to either “Recommended” or “Better performance.”

You can find the details of the latest update on our Surface Book 2 update history page.

Thank you for your interest in our newest device, Surface Book 2.  Regarding your query, we would like to clarify if you have already purchased the device online or if you're still looking at purchasing it.  If you've purchased it already, may we know where you bought it?

If the device was purchased at our Microsoft Store, you may go to any nearby Microsoft retail store in your area and our staff would check it and if service will be necessary the can initiate a request for you. One more option would be by calling our Support team that's located in your country.

    Thank you.

What happens if I bought the SB2 from here, online? Where do I go? What do I do?

    Thanks

    Hi Dave

According to this article, they were able to fix the issue on the razer.

So PLEASE MICROSOFT do the same! ;)

I have a case open with Microsoft Support here in the UK. I have ask if they would care to comment in this thread. In my case, i am also asking for a full refund. Since i have passed the 30 days period they are reluctant to refund me.

Also, i am sure they are aware of the issue just choosing to turn a blind eye. Dan from Windows central has a youtube post dedicated to coil whine noise. He also said that he mentioned it to Microsoft...

I will post the reply from Microsoft Support here

The support told me, that they are aware of the problem with the coil whine, when the power is plugged in and you are on max performance mode.

But they couldn't say anything to the fact, that I have the sound on all power modes, with our without power plugged in. :D

Maybe I will send in my third SB2 as well and tell them I send it back till they give me one without the sound.
