Surface Book Battery 1 Not Present

Hello,

I purchased my Surface Book in 2016 and it has been working perfectly until the past few weeks. The tablet battery (1) says it's "Not Present" and isn't charging and the keyboard battery is charged completely. Because of this, it won't allow me to detach the tablet, which isn't my biggest concern. I only get 3-4 hours off the keyboard battery which is difficult as a college student. 

I have tried the UEFI boot restart like mentioned in previous articles, restarting the laptop normally, flipping the charger around in the port and wiping it down, running the diagnostic tool, and the power trouble shoot in settings. 

Unfortunately my warranty has expired since then, so please advise me in anyway possible!

    I have the same problem that started some 2 weeks ago, other than battery 1 not charging with all the "solutions" that I could find and read (driver updates etc) I have started to have another issue now, namely that once the battery 2 is charging the surface suddenly shuts down.

    Does this "press" method on the right hand side work only when battery 2 is at 100%?

    I have this same issue, and twisting it or squeezing the screen in the horizontal center and slightly towards the top (where the battery connections are) make the battery show up. Could you direct me towards some of this "plenty of info on google" though? This is literally the first time I've seen someone else mention this issue after months of searching and would like to see if anyone has come up with some sort of workaround. I was thinking maybe I could open up the screen and shove a piece of paper or something in there to put pressure on the connectors.

    I have, in the past 2 weeks:

    After Windows update on/around 20th September 2018 battery 1 has stopped charging AND if I unplugged the PSU the surface book would switch off. I then updated the both battery drivers (now its "Surface" driver) but the battery 1 would still remain "not charging" whilst if I removed the PSU the laptop would not switch off. What occurs now is that whilst charging the battery 2 I have switching off of the laptop (based on the event report with Kernel 41 critical error). I have reset the Windows, image reload etc and have installed the "SpeedFan" to see the temperature sensors and this is that is happening.

    I have not option left other than to send the unit to US for repairs (after 2 years).

    I have exactly the same issue. 2 3 weeks ago. No charging the battery of the base and now finally my battery is not appears anymore. 

    The only way is to request a replacement  paying 700$, no way. 

    What is going on? Its better to buy a used performance base one on ebay and at least I could get better gpu...

    Really I dont know where I should ask assistance to fix it without having to pay a lot of money. 

    I tryed rebooting, deleting drivers,...with no luck.
