In light of the release of SP7+ and the anniversary of this problem, would the Surface team be so kind to fix this for us?
The fix will be released soon. It's named the Surface Pro 8.
We're supposed to pay for a fix MS unwilling to fix??

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.
I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

Hi all. Its now Feb 8 2021. My surface pro 3 just broke its external display using the "dock" that is connected by wires (as opposed to the dock where you slide the screen into it). Same deal.
Any fix yet?

Just realized that it's over an year since this thread first appeared, and we're still here.
Sigh.
Today Microsoft pushed an Intel Display update, and now the external monitor here is pitch black.
Thank you Microsoft Surface Team.
Can I ask for a refund? If so, how?
Thought I might chime in here, as I had a this problem with an external Samsung wide screen. I don't know if this was already mentioned in this thread as I have not read most of it but for me it worked to just delete/deinstall the Monitor (which I think is a horrendous choice of words) and then just plug it back in. After that it worked. It might also be necessary to do a quick reboot.
Hope this might help some of you.
