Monitor stuck on displayport with 640x480

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI. 

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

    I was able to resolve the issue today!

    Having replaced my old Surface Laptop with a new Surface Laptop 3, I bumped into the same issue: my Dell U2414H would be stuck on 640x480 resolution.

    My setup is the following:

    • Surface dock 1
    • Dell monitor connected via DisplayPort to the Surface dock.

    The way I was able to resolve this (kudos to my IT support specialist): Adjust a setting of the Dell screen. i.e. I used the menu buttons on the bottom of the monitor to change "Display Settings", where I had to set "DisplayPort 1.2" to "Enable". 

    That was it - problem solved - full resolution established!

    Nice for dell monitor users but the issue still remaines on samsung widescreen monitors. Also when enabeling dp 1.2 or higher modes.

    Same here. Reset to default multiple times; Enabling and disabling DP 1.2; Different cables; Different ports.

    Reverting to the old driver is the only solution.

    This worked great for me with the same monitors. what's odd is that this Surface 3 worked with another 3rd party USB C dock without setting to DP 1.2. There were other issues with this dock though. 

    Same Surface Dock with a Surface 5 works fine without settings the monitors to DP 1.2. 

    Very strange. Hope this helps someone else.

    Unbelievable that this problem has not been officially resolved yet. We have been facing this issue since early december.

    Updating the Intel Iris Plus graphics driver with Intel Driver & Support Assistant fixed the problem for us!
