seems they are releasing a new docks without DP and just usb-c
guess this solves issue. DP was issue with new update and they will be sticking with usb-c going forward.

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.
I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

The connector is USB-C, but the signal is still DP (or HDMI)...

The internals of Dock 2 are most likely different from that of Dock 1. We'll find out after someone does a teardown.
Cheers.
If it's coming out later this month, get ready to call customer support and fight for a credit in an exchange for a new dock. That's what I'm planning to do - expect the new dock to be released before this software issue.
A nice Redditor has suggested some points to look at, he also mentioned we could run dispdiag.exe to produce a log for MS to troubleshoot, if anyone already has a ticket opened.
