Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

Well, I have to say after seeing all the firmware updates I saw come through Windows update last night, I was excited to think that just maybe the issue had been resolved and I would be able to run the dual monitors this morning....

NOPE.  The Surface dock (Mini DisplayPort) still does not run dual monitors with the Surface Pro 7!   Microsoft, tell you what,  if you would like to do a trade, then I am happy trade my Surface dock (new as of January after I bought the SP7) for a Surface Dock 2 and call it problem solved.

It is September 14th... I submitted this back on Feb 1st... Still no closure.. Why? WHy is this so hard to fix? Especially since the monitor I am using.. is one for sale on the Microsoft site? You would think... they would... be compatible. Oh wait it was until the update you pushed back in January. Please give a update on when this will fix.

I am in the same boat.  I've have been unable to use my Samsung 49" monitor since February.  I am about ready to switch out my Surface laptop for a Dell.  Can't believe Microsoft continues to ignore this plea for help from so many customers.

I am having the same issue with my Surface Book 2 16 GB i7. I have 3 Asus VP28U 4K Monitors and I can only get two of them to display correctly while the third displays in 640x480. I have bought every display adapter that I can find, tried every display combination I can think of (HDMI, mini-display, Display Port, USB-C, etc.) and I have also given in and bought the surface dock 2 and it still doesn't work. Has anyone had any success? At this point, I am considering getting away from Surface devices if they can't work properly.

So I've just got a brand new Surface Book 3 (£2,699) and I'm running into the same issue everyone here has. Microsoft support came on screen share and tried reinstalling windows which of course didn't work, then told me to return it for a refund...

Before this overpriced paper weight goes back and I swap it for something that I can plug a monitor into, are there any known fixes for Surface Book 3 640x480 issue? All I'm seeing is Pro 7 & Laptop 3 fixes.

The funny thing is I've been using a Surface Pro 6 as my main work horse PC for a while now, and the dock works great at 2560x1440 120Hz. The HDMI solution I've read here allows me to change the resolution but not the refresh rate so I'm stuck at 60Hz. I'm not settling for 60Hz with a £2,699 piece of hardware.

I guess the obvious and Microsoft endorsed solution is to buy the new £250 dock 2, but I already own 2x dock 1s so that's not something I'm willing to do right now.

Feel like Microsoft have already given up on the SB2. I mean just look at the reviews on most sites. Maybe nobody is buying them except for me :(
