Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.
I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

I had the same issue but i believe a wise man on discord has solved it for me. The Samsung Monitor (CHG90) DOES NOT SUPPORT mini dp (dock end) to dp (monitor end). I have been informed you would need an active adaptor in between to make that work. Another “possible” option (lead hasnt arrived yet) is mini dp to mini dp. Only guaranteed option at this stage is mini dp to hdmi. I have spent hours looking at this and it seems the monitor does not support the connection we are trying.

Displayport connected monitors glitching down to 640x480 seems to be a common problem. I had the problem on with my PC and my 2nd Dell monitor.
Scouring the internet,
Solution 1 seemed to be power cycle the monitor. Unplug both the power and Displayport for 60s, plug the power in and then the display port. This seemed to fix a lot of peoples' problems. It did not fix mine.
Solution 2 I found was go into device manager and delete the issue monitor from device manager (you can tell which is which in you of the jargon in the properties. Once removed restart you computer (I can't remember if I re implemented Solution 1 at this point just to be sure) but upon reboot my screen showed full resolution again.
I had this issue with my Windows 10 PC connected to a new 2k Hanspress Monitor with Display port. I spent ages googling. Some saying it was a corrupt EDID but it turns out it was a setting within the monitor. In the settings on the monitor you will find DDC/CI, just disable it and all will be well. Very common with Dell monitors I believe.
