Monitor stuck on displayport with 640x480

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI. 

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

    This was the fix for a similar issue I encountered. I don't have the answer for your question but I'm sure you can find it somewhere online or through Microsoft support.

    What made you think that we have not tried that all already when this thread is already at 26 pages?

    Can you get someone from Microsoft to look into this issue again?

    At this point, their advice will be to wipe and reimage with a downloadable
    recovery image and if you still have this issue to pursue an exchange.

    Thought I might chime in here, as I had a this problem with an external Samsung wide screen. I don't know if this was already mentioned in this thread as I have not read most of it but for me it worked to just delete/deinstall the Monitor (which I think is a horrendous choice of words) and then just plug it back in. After that it worked. It might also be necessary to do a quick reboot.

    Hope this might help some of you.

    That's a separate issue, possibly poor connection of the Surface Connector, happens with all Surface devices AFAICT.

    What we here are dealing with is a DRIVER issue, which was broken since the Jan/Feb 2020 update, approximately an year ago.

    Just today, Microsoft pushed an display driver update which didn't fix the problem and broke my setup again. Fortunately, I have a backup of the old driver.

    However, I'm seeing some other issues with regard to OpenGL, perhaps the new driver update can fix it, but if I'm going to be unable to use the external monitor, it's practically a no-go.

    FWIW, a Microsoft staff came and said they're actively investigating it, like last March/April. Well, who would have thought that the COVID19 vaccines arrived before the fix! A fix which seemingly will not be coming whatsoever.

    The Surface team is not just refusing to fix the problem, they're simply ignoring us.

    Very poor handling.
