Monitor stuck on displayport with 640x480

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI. 

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

    I have identified a reproducible solution to this problem. The important thing is the order.

    If the error occurs on new installation or after an update, you have to install an old driver first. For me it works with version 25.20.100.7101 from 05.08.2019 This driver is included in the package SurfacePro7_Win10_18362_19.103.34215.0.msi.

    First you have to install this package. But after the installation this driver is not used yet, because Windows finds a newer driver.

    In the next step you have to uninstall the graphics card "Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics" via the device manager and also click the checkbox to remove the driver during the uninstallation. After a restart, Windows searches for a driver and automatically uses the last driver that is available. In the Device Manager, the version used is displayed for "Intel(R) Iris(R) Plus Graphics" under "Driver".

    As long as the resolution is 640x480, the device must be uninstalled again and again until the driver that was installed in the first step is displayed.

    It is amazing that the issue persists for over a year and nothing can be done. I just received surface book 3, connected it to surface port (1) and dp to P3421w and has exactly the same issue.

    The only solution so far was apply some ancient intel iris plus graphic driver version 25.20.100.7101 from 8/5/2019. Why cannot MS force Intel to ship fix? It is more likely this issue.

    Surface Dock 2 made no difference here... We were hopeful after being sold Dock V1 as compatible docks supposedly. I would say Dock V2 resolved some stability issues overall but we still had enough glitches that we don't see with any other brand of laptop that we have walked away from Surface.
