Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

So the only unknown currently is whether a Dock 2 would solve the problem? (aside from fixed drivers)

Good question, does anyone have a SP7+ and 1st gen brick-style Surface Dock to test?

I have this combination, and I'm having the issue. I've tried a number of different graphics drivers including the very latest (at time of posting) which is 27.20.100.9168 but this issue persists. The issue only occurs for me with Dell monitors, as soon as I replace the one that is stuck at 640x480 with an HP the issue is resolved.

Just for record, there are brightness and occasional gfx crash issues. Not sure if fixable with newer driver because it just make the external screen blank in my case.

    Same problem.

Just got a Surface Laptop 3 yesterday. Updated drivers. Connect my monitor through a USB / HDMI adapter.

    Monitor is stuck at 640x480.

What does it take to connect my surface laptop to an external monitor ?
