Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

Microsoft would tell you to try their tested official cable
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/p/surface-usb-c-to-hdmi-adapter/94chb2m80s54?rtc=1
and a high quality HDMI 2.0 cable to see if that resolves the issue. Honestly, I
see all the reported issues with both the original and Dock 2 that customers are
reporting, and all I can suggest is for those afflicted to use the Feedback Hub
app to report these issues in detail. They aren't going to scrape this forum for
info and details, if, indeed it is something that can be fixed with
    drivers/firmware.

Exchange probably won't solve the issue......

So the older driver did not solve the problem for you at all? And you've tried a
    wipe and reimage?

There are not a lot of people still reporting this issue so they would recommend
an exchange if you tried a reimage and tried the officially recommended Surface
USB-C to DisplayPort Adapter for Business and failed to resolve the problem.
Microsoft is currently out of stock, but Amazon seems to have it

The old driver causes freezes in software like Blender, so I need to use recent versions.

I am currently using a USB-C to HDMI to run my external monitor (singular monitor). My beef is that I bought the Surface Dock (upgraded from the SP3 dock) when I bought the SP7 and I can't run dual monitors through the display ports. I understand that the new Surface Dock 2 may solve that issue, but that wasn't released with the SP7 and they advertised dual monitor suport with the then current dock - so, I feel like I've been had. My SP5 works just fine to run dual monitors with the dock. To be honest, I'd be satisfied if they just traded my Dock for the Dock 2, but really this is a driver issue not a hardware issue that needs to be resolved...

Can you get someone from Microsoft to look into this issue again?

At this point, their advice will be to wipe and reimage with a downloadable
recovery image and if you still have this issue to pursue an exchange.
