Hi, I just got my Samsung 49" monitor last week and could not believe what happened when I connected it with my Surface Pro 7 which I got just a week earlier: there was no way to increase the resolution from 640x480 via displayport.
The second thing I could not believe was when I found out through this thread that this problem exists since over a year now...and every now and then people post here the same problem, occasionally with "crazy solutions".
Why "crazy"? Well, I am not a computer scientist! I want to unpack the devices I buy and then connect them...thats it. The work around with HDMI works, but it is not the same as displayport...and I want 100Hz.
Is there really no easy solution to that problem yet? A solution that does not involve setting drivers back to old versions ect which I simply don't know how to do. Actually I do believe that can not be expected from a normal business user.
I found a second work around to the HDMI cable myself by the way but that is also not what I want...I want my docking station to do what it is supposed to do. The second work around is to plug in "USB-C Multiport Adapter with 8k DisplayPort &PD" (you can
get it for a few bucks at Amazon) and connect that with a normal DisplayPort cable.
