Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.
I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

I had this issue with my Windows 10 PC connected to a new 2k Hanspress Monitor with Display port. I spent ages googling. Some saying it was a corrupt EDID but it turns out it was a setting within the monitor. In the settings on the monitor you will find DDC/CI, just disable it and all will be well. Very common with Dell monitors I believe.
Can you clarify? Do you mean bypass the Surface Dock and run a cable directly from the USB-C on the Surface laptop to the Displayport on the Samsung 49" monitor?
I also ordered my 49 inch monitor off the MS Store.

Use a hub which connects displayport/usb-c, that works for me to connect the monitor at full resolution.
Yup... It's absolutely horrible on the 49inch.. Funny part is the 49inch one I have... I got from the Microsoft store!
I also plugged in the HDMI with a mini port adaptor to connect the Surface Pro to a 49 inch Samsung monitor. It works, but, resolution is poor. I will be switching to a Dell laptop soon. Microsoft engineering / tech support is the worst ...
