Monitor stuck on displayport with 640x480

Yes HDMI I works.. However when you have a 49inch monitor.... HDMI looks horrible on it.. DP is where it needs to be.. Or even mini-DP.. which funny enough is teh default on the surface dock and its still bricked. This is just insane at this point. almost 10 full months since I posted this.

Update on my end as well: 

Pretty sick of Microsoft not being supportive of a product, especially when they're at fault for POS updates. Some notes from this experience:

• Microsoft stores close down
• You realize that they only support hardware returns after 30 days
• Calling Microsoft support they will bounce you around a lot. They keep pushing you to a 3rd party technical support. "Oh we can't do anything cause we are 3rd party". Great, why is this my fault? I am calling Microsoft and they're offsetting the blame?  

I sold mine and took a loss. It's a cool product but have now resorted to output through the USB-C port using another dock. Cause **** Microsoft in this instance. I thought buying a product through a company of this scale they'd make a customer happy. Nope.

I orginally posted to this forum way back on Feb 13, shortly after it started. I had just purchased a Pro7 and am using the Surface dock with dual Dell monitors display port cables into the mini display ports on the dock when I experienced the problem after a software update. I used the Durface dock with dual monitors with a Surface 3 and 5 for years with no issues and it worked with the 7 until the update broke it.

I followed this forum closely for the first few months waiting for a fix and tried many if not all workarounds posted here and on other forums, wasted a lot of time loading drivers, updates, etc all with no luck.  Slowly and frustrated over time I lost interest and resigned myself to a single monitor setup, although the second monitor still sat on my desk.

Yesterday, I decided to take down the second monitor. While looking at it I decided to simply try two regular HDMI cables directly out of the monitors HDMI ports into the two Surface dock display ports using HDMI to display port adaptors.  And what do you know it worked! 

I never considered using HDMI monitor outputs instead of display port outputs before and maybe I missed something about this along the way. Anyway I’m back to dual monitors and thought I’d post here. Hopefully it helps someone.

I'm now experiencing this after updating to Windows 10 version 2004. I have the latest graphics drivers and am connected directly to my GPU (no dock) using a display port cable. One of my 2 monitors is permanently locked to 640 x 480, of course it is my main large monitor making my PC borderline useless right now. I know it isn't an issue with the monitor because if I switch over to my work laptop on a dock, it is fine and allows me to set the correct resolution.

I'm really disheartened to find this thread and see other have been having this issues for 8 months now? What am I supposed to do here?

EDIT:

Well I fixed it right after my rant. I unplugged the monitor from the wall, waiting a few seconds, plugged it back in, and now my resolution is back to 3440x1440
