Here we are, 3 months after the Microsoft's updates broke our setup, for all we know they're still "actively investigating" it.

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI.
I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

How long does it take to update the video drivers back to a previous state and push an update? I see many updates to MS happening almost daily.
It's embarrassing, isn't it - it seems to be a major problem but it keep getting pushes aside. Weird? For sure. Hey Microsoft once you get thta sand out of your **** can you tell us what is going on? Try to recreate, try to tell us to send you our dumps, try anything! You are doing nothing and I guarantee 4 people @75k / year are working on this problem full time (or should be).
My Surface Laptop 3 was unstable... i tried installing the latest drivers... broke my Displayport once again. i already forgot that i manually downgraded more than a month ago.
IS THIS STILL A THING?
Microsoft please. atleast give Feedback.
University Prof who has used a Surface Pro 3 with external monitors at work and at home with no problems for over 4.5 years, using the original dock at work and the newer dock at home. Forced to work from home and relying on the SP3, when I realized that the screen was releasing from the frame so I rushed out and bought a Surface Pro 7. I cannot get it to work with my external monitor (Samsung U28D590) with the new dock via DP and HDMI. Tried a USB-C to HDMI cable also. Neither the dock/DP nor dock/HDMI nor USB-C/HDMI work. Sometimes it displays for a minute or two and then the monitor goes haywire. I rely on the 2nd monitor for my work, particularly for instruction which is all online currently. Please help.
Your monitor has a DP version adjustment option, try setting it to 1.1 and see if either of the connection works?
See 6.3.1 in the manual (https://downloadcenter.samsung.com/content/UM/201612/20161215111049334/BN46-00410A-Eng.pdf) for details.
Cheers.
