Monitor stuck on displayport with 640x480

Hi all.. Today after I updated my surface pro, my monitor is stuck in a 640x480 resolution. Which is no good with a 49 inch Samsung monitor. If I plug in the HDMI, it works, but, resolution is not that good like it was on the Displayport. Any tips or tricks to get it working again? For some reason it shows 'Flat Panel, 640x480' when using display port, but the samsung drivers when using HDMI. 

I am using the surface dock as well. I tried the displayport of the monitor with other computers and it's working fine. Not with surface. Really need help with this one!

    Just to add more information that the problem is centered on the DisplayPort and NOT the usb-c....

    I'm using a different dock (Thinkpad gen 3) now from my work (work from home privilege) and connecting the surface via usb-c. This does seem to work. 

    That being said my surface dock is a freaking brick right now. Cheers Microsoft.

    Best I have been able to get is the Surface screen extended to one external monitor.

    I had been using the Surface Pro’s screen extended to two monitors using a Microsoft dock for 4 or 5 years with several versions of the Surface Pro dating back to SP3.  

    In December I upgraded to SP7 and then the January update breaks everything. 

    Extremely disappointed and frustrated Microsoft can fix what they had been providing for years.

    Fairly confident many of us in the group have tried resetting everything when disconnected already for the past 2 months...

    Ive experienced similar issues multiple times.  Disconnect the surface from the monitor and then reset the monitor and restart the surface.  Works every time for me.
