Surface Pro 7 Slow WiFi

Hello everyone,

I am working with my new Surface Pro 7 i5 one or two days now and unfortunately, I still have severe wifi issues after installing all updates. Speed is between 0 and 1,250 kbit/s.

After searching for this issue, I found several entries describing this kind of problem and some workarounds like setting the MIMO Power Safe Mode to a different value. (as described here) I did all this but still, there is no improvement. 

Any other suggestions on this? Is this a known bug? Is there a patch on its way? Is Microsoft working on this?

Any help is greatly appreaciated.

    Hi Crest_Z,

    thank you very much for your help. I did each and every step but unfortunately there is no increase in speed on my Surface Pro and I still have to switch to my notebook if I want to work online... 

    Any other ideas? Can this also be a Hardware issue? (I hope not)

    Hi timtos,

    Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.  We apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you and we appreciate your effort in making sure that everything is up-to-date on your Surface device.

    Since you had tried those workarounds and there is no improvement with the connection speed, I would like you to do the following troubleshooting steps below.

    Step 1: Run Surface Diagnostic Toolkit

    Step 2: Uninstall/Re-install Wi-Fi Driver

    **** Open Device Manager

    Choose and expand Network Adapter

                Right-click on Intel Wi-Fi Driverand select***"Uninstall"***

    For the pop up warning*: if a check box appears and says “delete driver software”*

    do not check the box. Leave it empty.  Just select “Uninstall” at the bottom of the pop up.

    Step 3: Update Drivers and Firmware

    Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going toSettings > System > About.

                 Go to **Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose Surface Pro 7 then clickDownload** on the next page.

                 Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and clickNext.

                 After downloading, run and install the .msi thenRestart.

    Step 4:  If the above mentioned instructions won't fix the issue, kindly reset the network of your Surface device by:            

                Going to Settings > Choose Network & Internet > **Look for "Network Reset"**under Status.

    After clicking the **"Network Reset",**your device will restart automatically after 5 minutes.

    Once it restarted, kindly connect your Surface device to your Wi-Fi by re-entering your Wi-Fi password.
