I'd return it and repurchase to insure it is not hardware.
Surface Pro 7 Slow WiFi
Hello everyone,
I am working with my new Surface Pro 7 i5 one or two days now and unfortunately, I still have severe wifi issues after installing all updates. Speed is between 0 and 1,250 kbit/s.
After searching for this issue, I found several entries describing this kind of problem and some workarounds like setting the MIMO Power Safe Mode to a different value. (as described here) I did all this but still, there is no improvement.
Any other suggestions on this? Is this a known bug? Is there a patch on its way? Is Microsoft working on this?
Any help is greatly appreaciated.
Thanks a lot
Tim

2019-12-30T14:18:19+00:00 Hello Barb,
thanks for adding support to this issue. Unfortunately I have it in all locations and in my case, I have this problem ALL the time, not just after my device comes out of sleep...
Cheers,
Tim

2019-12-30T14:14:46+00:00 Hi Crest_Z,
I did all the steps you mentioned above and finally did reset my device but it is still slow. So next year it seems that I really have to contact support for replacement options… That's sad. But I want to thank you anyways for your help and support and of course, if other ideas pop up, please let me know.
Cheers,
Tim

2019-12-29T23:01:51+00:00 Hi timtos,
Thank you for your immediate response. Since the issue's still occurring after doing those troubleshooting steps, I would like you to run the network troubleshooter. Simply follow the instructions below:
To run the Network troubleshooter
- Select the Start button > Settings > Network & Internet >Status.
Run the Network troubleshooter 2. Under Change your network settings, select Network troubleshooter. 3. Follow the steps in the troubleshooter, and see if that fixes the problem.
If that doesn’t fix your connection problem, try these things:
- Reset the TCP/IP stack
- Release the IP address
- Renew the IP address
- Flush and reset the DNS client resolver cache
To run the above networking commands in a command prompt window
- In the search box on the taskbar, type Command prompt. TheCommand Prompt button will appear. To the right of it, selectRun as administrator > Yes.
- At the command prompt, run the following commands in the listed order, and then check to see if that fixes your connection problem:
- Type netsh winsock reset and select Enter.
- Type netsh int ip reset and select Enter.
- Type ipconfig /release and select Enter.
- Type ipconfig /renew and select Enter.
- Type ipconfig /flushdns and select Enter.
You can find some helpful information from this link: Fix Network Connection Issues In Windows including the above mentioned troubleshooting.
Note: If in case you will still experience the same issue, please uninstall any 3rd party antivirus installed on your surface device if there's one. - Under "Reset This PC" option, click "Get Started"
- Lastly, select "remove everything" to reset your Surface device back default settings.
