Surface Book 2 Trackpad and Keyboard Lag

So this thread has been going from December 12, 2017 and still no fix?! Seriously?! I am regretting purchasing this over $2000 US laptop if this is the issue I'm gonna have with no proper customer service as to finding a fix for this. My lag happens at Recommended battery settings and Better Performance. I have to put it on battery saver or Max Performance to prevent the lag with the pen and the trackpad. Might as well I had gotten a Macbook instead of this cuz I'd have gotten a fix for this already

I have been experiencing this lag issue as well on my 15" Surface Book 2 and while researching the other day came across a solution that someone reported fixing the same lag issue on the Surface Pro 4. 

The problem seems to be an issue with power management. I don't experience the problem while connected to power or at max battery performance. Running on battery saver also alleviates the lag. The keyboard, pen and trackpad are all responsive now while maximizing battery life and overall performance is in line with the Recommended battery performance level. 

To clarify, here's my experience:

1. The worst touchpad and keyboard lag is when on battery life and the performance slider is set to either "Recommended" or "Better performance."
2. When on battery life, moving the slider to "Best battery life" or "Best performance" alleviates much of the lag, but not all of it.
3. Much less often, I also get the lag when plugged in. During those moments, moving the slider to "Best performance" seems to alleviate most of the lag.

So, it definitely appears that whatever Microsoft is doing with the power adjustments is messing with the input queue somehow, since by all accounts this affects the keyboard, the touchpad, and the pen. Assuming that Microsoft's engineering team is aware of this issue, there has to be hope that they're working on a fix and that it won't be terribly difficult.

But it really does need to be stressed that this issue makes the Surface Book 2 very difficult to use efficiently and wouldn't be acceptable in a $700 notebook, let alone one that costs $3,300.

I downloaded the Surface Diagnostics Toolkit from Surface.com/Tool and ran through the program.  So far, my keyboard and mouse lag is gone.  I'll keep you posted if it comes back.

Can we get a comment from @MICROSOFT please? This issue is all over the internet.

The problem is related to the way the trackpad device reacts to battery performance/efficiency settings.

Microsoft claims this device is best-in-class... this is a great opportunity to prove it.

I have the same problem.

I expected near perfection from a $3200 laptop and I did not receive it.

This happens both when I'm using the dock and when I'm not using the dock, when I'm plugged into AC and when I'm using the battery.

Is there any workaround besides installing Ubuntu?
