Surface Book 2 Trackpad and Keyboard Lag

Hi. I have a brand new, i7 256 Surface Book 2 with an annoying problem. The trackpad and keyboard both exhibit huge lag when running on battery power, with anything less than "Better Performance". Even then, it's not perfect unless you go for the 'Best Performance' setting.

When running in battery mode, it's easy to appreciate that more people might be using the trackpad rather than a mouse (for portability) so why this won't function properly on the lower power saving modes, is confusing to say the least. One would expect the keyboard to work cum-what-may. 

I've never experienced this issue with my Surface Pros and feel rather disappointed given the cost or the Book 2.

Any fixes please, other than disabling the two-finger pinch to zoom function?

    What is "insider slow" and where is it?  I'm coming off three years of a simple and straighforward MAC where it's easy to find information and it makes sense and there aren't all these complications.  I did plug my laptop in and the speed of the keyboard was normal without the shadow lag of a paced typing when I'm trying to hit 85 wpm but can't because the keys are so far behind my punching them.  It is ridiculously hard to find helpful detailed information for the simplest things.  Ugh.  This thing is way more expensive than my Macbook Pro.

    The "Insider Slow" mode is stable.   Been running it on my Surface I use for work for a few weeks now.  No issues.

    Okay, so battery powered.  That's when I detected the lag.  $3500 for a flaw like that is very disappointing.  I've had mine less than a week.  I hadn't even considered the different between battery powered and plugged in.  Could be.

    I tried this, it did solve the problem but caused many others for me since the stream isn't stable enough yet. In the process of rolling back, I opted to just do a full reinstall/system restore and it seems to have fixed all of my issues.

    I got fed up with the lag and with some intermittant OS freezes that were happening. Took my sb2 to the microsoft store and swapped it out with a different one. New machine doesn’t have the lag problem. 

    Hardware problem?
