I just purchased a Surface Pro 2 256GB model, and am having some trouble with the sleep functionality. Over the course of around a day I've had the device lock up several times after putting it to sleep and waking it via the power button (I have
to do a hard reset to get it working again). I doesn't look like I got the bad update that was mentioned (I set it up yesterday). Is this the same issue that anyone else is happening? I'm not sure if the product is defective or not, and really didn't want
to return it since it's basically sold out everywhere, and I won't be around again to purchase a new one after the holidays.
Thanks for any info!
To be honest, I was having issues when I first got mine. I want to love this thing, I want it to be perfect, but don't expect it to be. I spent 1k on a tablet that with or without the update was having issues. There are just MORE issues now with the
update. Before the update it was having trouble waking up, I'd have to hit the power button numerous times and wait in between to see if the screen would come on. Eventually, the screen would come on waking it from sleep, sometimes upwards of 10 - 15 seconds
later and 2 - 3 tries at the power.
After the update, the wake from sleep issues cleared up, but then the thing would wake up on its own after 1 hour and refuse to go back to sleep. 3 nights in a row the thing woke itself up and had died in the middle of the night. Also, after waking
from sleep, the CPU would sit at a constant 9 to 14% usage from ACPI.sys eating up cpu cycles until after a reboot. Then it would go back to zero. Only AFTER going to sleep/hibernate did that issue arise. If you simply powered the machine down each time,
the CPU ACPI.sys issue never cropped up.
If you want a perfect machine, return this thing, if you have the money to sit and wait out some updates, it's a great little machine overall. Makes me miss my Macbook Air and how flawless it and the software/drivers were, but that's another story.
