Automatic Ear Detection

I have the new Surface Headphones 2. They have the automatic ear detection feature, and I’d like to disable it. I downloaded the app and it’s not an option there.

Sometimes I like to lower my headphones around my neck but keep the music playing. Usually when walking around the house and talking to others.

How can I turn this feature off?

Thanks

Hi DjRidgley,,

I already received a response from our internal support and I'd like to let you know that the automatic ear detection cannot be disabled manually because it is by design to turn off the audio when you remove  or place the Surface headphone around your neck. This is for users to save battery energy. If you'd like this option to be raised to our software engineers, it would be best to send this as a suggestion through the Feedback Hub app.

If this answers your question, feel free to mark this post as an answer. Otherwise, don't hesitate to respond to this thread if there's anything else that needs to be addressed.

Kind Regards,

Crest_Z

Please see if they could add the ability to adjust the sensitivity of the off-ear detection or how long the delay is before pausing playback.

    Hi DjRidgley,

Thank you for reaching out Microsoft Community.

If you don't see any option to disable this feature on the Surface Audio App, I'm not so certain if this is a built-in feature that cannot be disabled manually, so I am currently waiting for our internal support's response because I have escalated this concern of yous for me to check if this feature can be disabled. I'll just get back to you in this thread to give you some updates.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z
