Surface Book 2 - Fans are noisy / loud after update

Hi,

I updated my surface book 2 (13 - i7 - 1050) today from the build 1809 to 1909 with all updates/firmware.

I have noticed that the behavior of the fans has changed.  My laptop got a lot noiser during load and even audible at idle.

Now the fans are extremely noisy/loud at load even when i'm changing the power modes (slider)

For example, on the previous build 1809, I was playing Witcher 3 in better performance mode and fan noise was perfectly acceptable.

Now regardless of the power mode, the fans are very loud.

I don't think i'm the only one with this problem.

The only solution found by the community is to restore a previous version ( build 1809 whose support will end at the end of the year).

I would like microsoft provide a real answer other than launching their diagnostic tool and i hope they will record it as an issue in order to follow the resolution. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history

    Hi JoeMaier,

    You are right. It is not possible to play when you are not focusing the game window.

    The only solution i found is to rollback to a previous version .

    In my videos, i just wanted to show that the behavior of the fan is abnormal when we are focusing game window with the last update of windows.

    I hope to be clearer.

    Same exact problem.  1-2 months ago, I updated from 1803 to 1909 and everything stayed the same.  Today, Update decided it had missed a bunch of driver and firmware updates (as near as I can tell, it apparently hadn't installed any since sometime in 2018 based on the older firware version name/number).  Now I get the VERY loud fan when playing World of Warcraft and the fans go back to quiet if I defocus (but, of course, can't play with the game defocused).

    I am also having this problem after the update.  I really thought it was just my laptop.  I'm not glad it's happening to others but I am relieved to know it's not the fault of my computer but the result of something Microsoft did.

    i see the same issue, very loud fan when nvidia 1050 GPU i active in ex. a game.. :(

    Microsoft what is the status on a working patch for the newest Win10 build ?!?..

    I had this problem back in June and "solved" it by doing a clean install of 1803. Now my computer automatically updated to 1909 without me noticing, and it's still working for now, but I've been putting off the firmware update as I'm 99% sure that's what caused the problem in the first place. This is update 182.2107.139.0 from July, so it is newer than the last one I tried. Can anyone tell me if this firmware update fixes the issue? I really don't want to do a clean install again, but I can't postpone forever.
