Surface Book 2 - Fans are noisy / loud after update

Hi,

I updated my surface book 2 (13 - i7 - 1050) today from the build 1809 to 1909 with all updates/firmware.

I have noticed that the behavior of the fans has changed.  My laptop got a lot noiser during load and even audible at idle.

Now the fans are extremely noisy/loud at load even when i'm changing the power modes (slider)

For example, on the previous build 1809, I was playing Witcher 3 in better performance mode and fan noise was perfectly acceptable.

Now regardless of the power mode, the fans are very loud.

I don't think i'm the only one with this problem.

Some examples :

The only solution found by the community is to restore a previous version ( build 1809 whose support will end at the end of the year).

I would like microsoft provide a real answer other than launching their diagnostic tool and i hope they will record it as an issue in order to follow the resolution. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history

And if someone has an idea / solution I am interested ! Thx.

Regards,

Frederic

No laptop is suitable for playing games on battery for more than hour and a half, maybe two max... You can't even expect that from a portable non gaming laptop..

For movies and music, the battery works great... use battery power slider, and move it all the way left for best battery life. It will downclock CPU, but it will be more than enough for movies and music.

the  problem is  communication, they claim the device  is from one of their stores a show model.

the thing I cannot understand  is how  did the device needed  refurbishing, why cannot they supply  me with a area I can check when the device was first purchased as apple does with their  phones.

Why could they since  the original was a few days  old  offer me a upgrade  of the device.

When a device is manufactured it is done in batches, this batch may have had a  fault installed  and so how many  more were faulty.

the newer surface has a up graded battery whicj last  longer but the battery in the surface  last up to   4 hours. it is unsuitable for playing any games, for long playing  music or movies as it chews up the  battery. it is  only suitable for school or a office  not  for everyday  use. Microsoft should  show more concern and listen to  the people, as at the present  they are only interested in money and not  the perfection  of a device, their devices are  rated by how a user finds it. most reviews are locked and placed by owners in favor to microsoft

Sorry to hear that.  I wouldn't expect Microsoft to give you a refund (unless you bought it from them) but I would expect them to provide a working replacement (new or refurbished) way faster than you are experiencing and to make sure one they are sending you actually does work.

    yes I have

but  microsoft  failed to come to the party

gave me a refurbish which they  claimed  came from one of their stores  unlikely, as power port showed damaged  with I  photoed and  time stamped  to show it cam  that way at present I have been elevated to  level 3  and  said they will try.

At present  it is a expensive paper weight , and yet if any one asks I can  only say  what my experience has been with  surface and Microsoft  which would be a huge negative  on any reviews I write . 2 mos  and  I have  had aprox 20 hours  use, time for around 2 days  use with 58 days down time. Not  good  for expressing quality of  goods. when I get back a few dollars more  and I will buy a  asus zen

My Surface Book 2 plays games just fine (at least all the games I've tried playing on it).

Why would you expect the manufacturer (Microsoft) to give you a refund?  I've never encountered a manufacturer that does that (except in exceptional circumstances).  Have you tried getting a refund from wherever you bought your Surface Book?
