Surface Book 2 - Fans are noisy / loud after update

Hi,

I updated my surface book 2 (13 - i7 - 1050) today from the build 1809 to 1909 with all updates/firmware.

I have noticed that the behavior of the fans has changed. My laptop got a lot noiser during load and even audible at idle.

Now the fans are extremely noisy/loud at load even when i'm changing the power modes (slider)

For example, on the previous build 1809, I was playing Witcher 3 in better performance mode and fan noise was perfectly acceptable.

Now regardless of the power mode, the fans are very loud.

I don't think i'm the only one with this problem.

The only solution found by the community is to restore a previous version ( build 1809 whose support will end at the end of the year).

I would like microsoft provide a real answer other than launching their diagnostic tool and i hope they will record it as an issue in order to follow the resolution. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history

Glad it's not just me. Went to play a game today and noticed my fans blasted off to space just like they did last summer, and sure enough there was a firmware update that happened overnight between the last time I played a game and today, just like before. Made a new thread about it because I hadn't seen one yet and the reply I got told me that "noise from fans is normal" sigh hopefully the fix comes soon. Can't believe this is the second time with this exact issue stemming from a surface driver update.

The latest windows update has again caused the internal fans of the surface book 2 to kick into overdrive at the slightest gpu use. I really wish Microsoft would check their latest firmware before releasing it, now we wait until Microsoft corrects their coding to fix the fans overuse in another update as they did last time to fix this problem in surface book.

Best work around is you can system restore to a point before this latest update. unfortunately I don't have a restore point, so no game playing for this computer until another update.

I am sure there are a lot with the surface book right now that are experiencing this problem as we both have since last Microsoft update, this annoyance will get a fix, hopefully sooner than later, they've done it before.

I'll have to try that once I'm offline. I had it fixed but the new "improved" firmware cranks the fan up to max (for me at least) when the GPU reaches 50C (about 30C lower than it should).

So I fixed this problem by accident.

Updated Windows to latest build and all other minor updates and releases; fan still running overdrive;

restarted; fan still running overdrive;

detached screen unit from keyboard unit; fan went silent (so proves the GPU theory);

re-attached screen unit to keyboard unit; fan stayed silent.

My surfacebook has been performing optimally now for a month, no qualms.
