Surface Book 2 - Fans are noisy / loud after update

Hi,

I updated my surface book 2 (13 - i7 - 1050) today from the build 1809 to 1909 with all updates/firmware.

I have noticed that the behavior of the fans has changed.  My laptop got a lot noiser during load and even audible at idle.

Now the fans are extremely noisy/loud at load even when i'm changing the power modes (slider)

For example, on the previous build 1809, I was playing Witcher 3 in better performance mode and fan noise was perfectly acceptable.

Now regardless of the power mode, the fans are very loud.

I don't think i'm the only one with this problem.

Some examples :

The only solution found by the community is to restore a previous version ( build 1809 whose support will end at the end of the year).

I would like microsoft provide a real answer other than launching their diagnostic tool and i hope they will record it as an issue in order to follow the resolution. https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history

And if someone has an idea / solution I am interested ! Thx.

Regards,

Frederic

Why keep posting non-sense? The only sensible thing is for Microsoft to fix the bugs/flaws. Not keep regurgitating to reset and reinstall things to an old / less secure OS version. What a joke.

I am curious, how many Surface Book 2 consumers that all state they are having the same GPU throttling process, annoying loud fans while playing any form of game for them to actually fix what Microsoft's update has caused. Rolling back to a previous version is NOT a solution, you can't keep updates away from Windows OS forever eventually it will make you download into this current update that isn't SB2 friendly.

On another note, I put in headphones, to drown out the sound of my fans on overdrive, and  played WoW (World of Warcraft) last night. My SB2 was put in Best Battery life mode, Plugged in to the outlet and within maybe two hours my battery went from 70% down to 14%!!!!!

So not only did the update make fans loud, SB2 hot, it also reverted it to back when the SB2 weren't getting enough power PLUGGED in to continuously play a game as old as Warcraft.  Is their someone we can call or someone to write to bring resolution for a $2000 product that has been practically made void for me?

And the solution isn't a CORRUPTED file, this is a brand new install of Windows 10 with all new downloaded programs. I had to reinstall a brand new OS when reverting to the previous build caused blue screen issues.

Hey guys, disabling "Game Mode" seems to have worked for mine. I found this suggestion on Reddit from last year, and thought it would be worth a try:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/SurfaceGaming/comments/gyi8po/support\_surface\_book\_2\_battery\_drain\_and\_high\_fan/

"I read somewhere on Forbes that the May Windows 10 update screwed up a lot of communication/compatibility with BOTH Nvidia GeForce and Intel core refresh rates. They fixed this by disabling Game Mode in Windows Settings (Settings --> Gaming --> Game Mode) at the sacrifice of framerates. This isn't a great fix, and the article (which I'll add later today) also says that Microsoft has NOT set a timeline for fixing it yet."

    Hi Frederic M,

Glad that you're able to sort it out by unfocusing the game  frame. Thank you for sharing this in the Community.

    Kind Regards,

    Crest_Z

This is NOT a solution as you cannot play the game unless focused on it..... Why would you suggest he has sorted it out?

    This needs to be fixed.

You are lucky your fans are working. Mine havent worked in about two years since a firmware update broke them. Lid closed with surface dock. I have been through several replacements. I can probably fry an egg on top of my SB2. And all I'm doing is some light web surfing and emailing.
