Surface Duo 2 tap to pay using Google Wallet stopped working

Tap to pay using Google wallet when connected to an approved credit card is no longer working. The issue presented in the last few days prior to the security update. I've used it flawlessly for many months on this phone and now it refuses to work, it simply vibrates when tapped to a terminal. Not sure if it's google or microsoft in this instance but it's unlikely my bank after having spoken to them it seems to be more likely one of the former. Other Duo owners are reporting the same issue. Note that my loyalty cards still function OK with NFC Google wallet. I'm in Australia.

I have logged a ticket with Microsoft support through the Surface App. I have gone through all the steps that have so far been suggested and have also provided them with a recent bug report.

I am also in the process of working through a similar support request with Google and they are also looking into the issue to see if it's related to the Google Wallet application. Based on other Surface Duo 2 owners facing a similar issue with contactless payment, it looks as though this is something the Microsoft needs to fix on their end.

I urge others having similar issues to do the same to ensure that this gets the attention that it requires.

I am not confident in Microsoft providing duo engineers the time to work on the phone based on their inability to get security updates out on time or any meaningful new features added anymore. There have been reports that the team working on it were transferred to Android for Teams projects. This is Windows Phone all over again and simply not good enough for a plus $2000 flagship handset with over a year of updates left.

This is not an answer, if you care to read all the above thread you would know that this was the first thing many of us have done. This is software issue that needs addressing by either Microsoft or Google. The problem started just prior to the last Microsoft security update and continues still weeks later. This is a worldwide issue affecting what seems like all Duo 2 users.

The sensitivity of the NFC - tap to pay function has changed and it no longer functioning as it was. Why has this not been fixed with hundreds complaining about it? I have sent reports and faults to both Microsoft and Google, also sent through the log files as requested but nothing seems to be getting done.

This is a huge issue that needs to be addressed now and not in however many weeks a new update will be sent out. The updates are now a month late too and offer nothing but the most minimal changes - which is unacceptable. What are the engineers doing and why does Microsoft think it is acceptable to de-prioritise a $2500+ device that's still well within its service period?

Exactly the same problem here. Since the update it's stopped working. Reinstalled wallet app and no change. As you say just vibrates on terminal for all payment cards. Very frustrating and hope Microsoft fix this soon!

I have exactly the same issue with Duo 2, Ontario, Canada

What annoys me is a lack of real response from microsoft, they need to acknowledge the issue and tell us they are working on it. It's not my job to fault find for them. This should have been fixed within days.
