Surface Earbuds has a static hissing sound in left ear when on video calls.

My main problem is that when I am using my Surface Earbuds with my Surface Book 2 and on video calls through Zoom there is a distinct static/hissing sound coming out of the left earbud when someone else is talking. The right earbud does not have this problem. When listening to music or making calls on my Galaxy S9+ I do not have this problem at all. The batteries have been fully charged before using them and I have also update the firmware to 3.0.0.5 which is the latest update available and still have this problem. When in a conference call the audio and mic are connected to Surface Earbuds Hands-Free AG Audio.

Only issue is that the stereo connection doesn't use the actual earbud as the microphone and instead uses your PC mic. You also lose all of the M365 integrations.

I had the same issue on my first-gen Surface Laptop and found a solution. I did a factory reset AND uninstalled the Windows "Surface Audio" app. It struck me as odd that, after installing the Surface Audio app, it does some kind of additional bluetooth connection (BLE vs normal? I don't know). Turns out that additional connection was causing the issue.

You can still install the app on your iOS or Android device to manage or update the Earbuds.

    Hope it helps.

As many others have discovered the audio is nearly perfect on these earbuds if you turn off the "call audio" option in the Bluetooth connection. With that turned on the "music" is garbage. With it turned off the music is sublime...but you cannot use it for phone calls. When using them for phone calls there is a hiss in the left ear.

This is unacceptable. Without a software upgrade for them SOON I will be forced to send them back within my 60 day window.

Same issue except mine hisses when connected to phone (only on phone calls, not when listening to music)

    Galaxy S8+ running Android Pie

Should I replace them or is this a known issue with all of them?

I'm having the same problem. When using in Teams for a meeting, there is a hiss/static sound when other people are talking. It isn't horrible but certainly noticeable. Only the left ear.

This is using Teams on a Surface Laptop 2.
