Does this battery/screen separation issue only limited to the SP4 and SP Pro? does it affect other platforms such as 3/6/7?
Surface 4 Pro screen bulging at lower left edge and separated from the frame
I have a Surface 4 Pro that I purchased in March 2016. Over the last few days, I was seeing a considerable color bleed on lower left edge of the screen. Then I stared noticing that that type cover does not seem to close flat against the screen. On closer inspection, I found that the screen is bulging (curving out) on the lower left side and the screen edge has separated from the frame, exposing a gap, Some of the circuitry inside seems to be pushing out as well from what I can see through the gap, indicating something inside is exerting an outward pressure. I pushed the screen back in and with a little pressure it got flattened. However, after a few minutes use, the screen bulged out again. There is no physical damage to the screen, the bezel or the device in general, no cracks or scratches.
What is causing this and what is a possible solution?
Thanks,
Deepak

2020-11-30T03:00:11+00:00 When it first happened i got a jittery screen and thought it might be a software issue. I called and they said nothings wrong. Then after 2m, the case opened, and i brought bring it into a MS store (nyc), and they looked at it and manager said with a straight face, u probably dropped it or did something. Nothings wrong, we have nothing about that in our database and it still works. Too bad u are out of warranty. What bs. Turns out there were then already thousands of similar complaints.
That price is likely significantly higher than the market value of a 3rd party reconditioned unit, and did they tell u the warranty is not extended, and there's been no upgrade or fix of the battery, so u run a risk of it reoccurring? Ridiculous.
Switch to apple pros - much better performance and experience. I did, and just give up on ms. Remember their phone and zune their ipod clone? Good ideas but they managed to screwed them up. I did tried to reason with them extensively, but it's hopeless. Wasted thousands on pro 3 and 4 and accessories.
I should have but didnt
Googled surface problems and not rely on fanboys reviews.
Google "consumer Reports surface not recommended" 25%, highest of all , of 40,000 surveyed in 2017 have complaints in first 2 years, and that doesn't even include this issue!
What an unethical co. So sad.

2020-11-29T01:07:42+00:00 I am also pi**ed off. I just contacted MS tech support, the rep I chat with was still willing to replace with identical config (i5/8GB/256GB) for $450, due to warranty expired Jul 2020, but he still needed to escalate to the management team and would get back to me by Monday which I doubt I would hear back from him again. They sounded nice and professional, but usually just blah blah blah, once they get disconnected, they don't respond anymore, my experience.

2020-11-28T19:28:36+00:00 Sadly HenryMars you just joined a very non exclusive club where no-one wants to be a member and the manager of said club couldn't give a tuppenny stuff about its members. Blind and deaf are Microsoft. It isn't good enough but they simply don't care and 22 pages of complainst says it all really.
Enjoy finding a non MS replacement where I am sure the customer service will be better - frankly it would be hard not to!!

2020-11-28T08:02:25+00:00 Same situation here. I got the pro 4 four years ago, and just a couple of days ago the screen bulged. I try to find solution online and have been referred to a online rep, and after two days, he told me that the technician told him that this is a bulging issue (am I stupid enough and don't know what is bulging?), HOWEVER I need to pay A$953.70 for a replacement! I spent A$2K on a computer and did not expect it only works for 3 years or 2 years within the warranty. I would prefer to take a A$953.70 compensation and buy a MacBook!
I have been thinking about in this kind of situation what would Apple do, and yes they will replace this kind of faulty for no more asking! Like when I bought the first Lenovo computer and its speakers just didn't work the moment I take it out of the box, I've never bought another Lenovo product in my life, I think this is the end of my history of purchasing MS products.
