It will happen that sometimes I turn my headset on and the sound is off. It sounds like if I were holding the headphone away from my ear, it sound afar. I turn the head set off and on and its still there. The only way to fix it is by unplugging the USB Link. Why does this happen? Thanks.

    Hi Victoria_CC,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

Based on the description you posted, it seems that you have an issue with Microsoft Modern wireless headset wherein the sound is not working properly. This may be caused by the sound driver setting of the headphone need to update or there are some updates needed to install or there is an issue on the connection in the USB port.

Let’s work together in finding the best solution to this issue. To get started, I will ask a few questions to further isolate the issue.

    • Are you using a Microsoft Modern headset or Surface headphones?
    • Has this happened since you got the Microsoft modern headset?
    • What device are you connected with a Microsoft Modern headset PC, phone or Surface device?
    • Did you try to connect this Microsoft Modern headset to another device like phone or other PC and you have same issue?
    • Did you try to connect the USB link to another USB port, and you have same issue on the sound?

We will do some basic troubleshooting to further fix the issue.
