Hi LucasVertrees,
Thank you for visiting and posting in the Microsoft Community! I am sorry to hear the touch screen on your Surface is not working or responding properly. I can tell that you are worried about this situation, and it is certainly understandable, taking
into consideration this is a new device. I will be glad to assist and help provide the best possible solution!
First and foremost, please make sure you have all and latest Windows updates installed. This is very important. Here you can find instructions on how to check for updates:
Also, if the touchscreen doesn’t respond correctly to touch—if some gestures don’t work, the charms don’t appear when you swipe in from the right, or if the touchscreen responds slowly or not at all—try these solutions:
Additionally, you can also try to update or/and uninstall and reinstallthe
Touch drivers. Here is how:
- From the Desktop, swipe from the right and select Settings.
- Select Control Panel.
- Select Device Manager.
- Select Surface Pro Touch Controller Firmware.
- Select the tab under Driver
- Select Update Driver Software.
- Select “Browse my computer for driver software”.
- Select "Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer"
- Select Surface Pro Touch Controller Firmware.
- Select Next
- Let the install finish.
- Restart your Surface.
If after the previous steps the issue persists, repeat the steps from 1-6 and click Uninstall, then restart your Surface and allow Windows to reinstall the driver.
***Please DO NOT check the box saying "Delete the driver software for this device".***
Please note, if none of the above steps work, it is recommended you Refresh your Surface as shown here:
We hope these solutions prove useful! Please keep us posted!
We are always here to help!
Best Wishes,
