I love the new SP4 pen, but I've noticed the pen pressure is not consistent. The biggest problem is that paint brush strokes in Photoshop don't taper smoothly when drawing. I tired using the SP4 pen on my Surface Pro 3 and it doesn't have any problem. Here is a screen capture of what I'm talking about.
Since the pen isn't the problem I'm assuming it's a calibration issue with the Surface Pro 4. I downloaded new Wintab drivers to see if that would solve the problem (got the idea from this thread about pen problems).
It's not just Photoshop. The actual Surface pen pressure app has the same problem. It's harder to see because the brush strokes are thinner, but there is a much faster tapering happening than there is on the Surface Pro 3. Here is a screen cap:

As some of you have already noticed, on July 14th, 2016, we released an update to the Surface Touch Driver that should significantly improve the pen tapering and pressure experience that this thread talks about.

this issue is frustrating me. it supposed to have 1024 levels of pressure sensitivity but does nothing on light pressure.
And then if you press the pen hard it draws with delay and this annoying tapering bug.
The tapering doesn't bother me that much. My drawing style is quite slow strokes, and that's when the jitter kicks in which is even worse. So what to do? Draw fast strokes with tapering or slow strokes with jitter/wavy lines. Luckily I bought Lazy Nezumi which deals with both of the problems, but it introduces a bit more lag, and WHY should I have to invest in a 3rd party software for this? It seems like the Quality control team was on holiday when it was time to test the pen. Yes the tip is closer to the screen, almost no parralax, but that's worthless when the pen is not accurate enough when you're actually using it. Just wanted to add my 5 cent's to the issue.
On a second note, my cat nibbled the corner which resulted in a huge crack across the screen, so I've ordered a new screen/digitizer assembly from china which i suspect isn't 100% original, but it will be fun to see if it performs better.
I only recently noticed this issue with the tapering at the end of strokes, but now that I know it's there it's extremely frustrating. I ordered my SP4 a few weeks after it came out. Originally I was going to get the SP3, but I opted for the SP4, even though it was more expensive, because of the supposed improvements with the pen and pressure sensitivity. I really wanted a portable computer that would allow me to draw using full Windows applications on the go and I was so excited for the SP4, but this issue really makes it difficult for me to draw naturally. I constantly have to go back and erase things when lines get connected unintentionally or I have to draw using much slower strokes in order to counteract the tapering problem. I don't want to have to wait until the end of the year to see if the new pen they're making with Wacom will solve this issue; I just want to be able to draw comfortably and quickly using the pen that already came with my SP4. Microsoft, please solve this problem or at least give us a response to let us know that you're still working on it!
