Surface Pro 6 Runs Slower in Dock

My Surface Pro 6 runs noticeably slower when it is connected to the dock. I have a dock at both home and work and see the same reduced performance in both places. This is not a new issue (unlikely related to a recent Win or other software update). Both docks were originally purchased for use with my previous Surface Pro 4 device.

Does anyone else notice such a pattern?

Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

  • Surface Pro 6, i7, 16gb
  • Win 10 10.0.17763 Build 17763
  • >300GB of 500GB hard drive are free

I don't see any obvious issues when looking at Task Manager. CPU, memory and internet are all lightly utilized.

Thanks much for any thoughts.

There seems to be a trick to solve the problem, but I'm not yet 100% sure if it works.

Go to Device Manager and select Batteries ---> Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and remove its driver completely. Then scan for a new hardware and wait for this device to be reinstalled automatically by the system.

Now listen to this ****: I talked to MS and they claimed the device is fully working and throttling problem is just a software problem and can't be considered as a reason to return the device. WHAT A JOKE MS! I can't believe this is happening in the 21 century to one of the biggest companies in the world with one of the most expensive and exclusive hardware. Can't believe this.

Looks like others are reporting this issue.

The Surface Pro slows down when plugged in.

    Lame.

Really do now consider returning it. I would rather not, as it is otherwise a nice machine. Hoping for a fix.

Any way to escalate this higher than current level to Microsoft?

My SP6 gets stuck at 0,4 GHz whenever it runs on AC power, either via the charger (I've tried 2 of them) or the surface dock.
