Surface Pro 6 Runs Slower in Dock

My Surface Pro 6 runs noticeably slower when it is connected to the dock. I have a dock at both home and work and see the same reduced performance in both places. This is not a new issue (unlikely related to a recent Win or other software update). Both docks were originally purchased for use with my previous Surface Pro 4 device.

Does anyone else notice such a pattern?

Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

  • Surface Pro 6, i7, 16gb
  • Win 10 10.0.17763 Build 17763
  • >300GB of 500GB hard drive are free

I don't see any obvious issues when looking at Task Manager. CPU, memory and internet are all lightly utilized.

Thanks much for any thoughts.

I mean, that in some unclear circumstances, the CPU speed on Surface Book 2 / Surface Pro 6 goes down to 0,4 GHz and it stays there. You can check it by pressing ctrl+alt+del and see the CPU performance table. In normal use, CPU speed should be around 3,0 GHz.

There are a lot of details on the Internet already about this issue.

I can confirm that this problem is related to 0,4 GHz CPU throttle.
