Surface Pro 6 Runs Slower in Dock

My Surface Pro 6 runs noticeably slower when it is connected to the dock. I have a dock at both home and work and see the same reduced performance in both places. This is not a new issue (unlikely related to a recent Win or other software update). Both docks were originally purchased for use with my previous Surface Pro 4 device.

Does anyone else notice such a pattern?

Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

  • Surface Pro 6, i7, 16gb
  • Win 10 10.0.17763 Build 17763
  • >300GB of 500GB hard drive are free

I don't see any obvious issues when looking at Task Manager. CPU, memory and internet are all lightly utilized.

Thanks much for any thoughts.

BTW, if the Surface is an Insiders machine, Microsoft tests firmware in the Insiders rings and does NOT document until they release to production for all. I am trying to find out more about this update you mention. Is your Surface in an Insiders ring and if so, which one?

Maybe it is a fix for Surface Firmware 239.3101.139.0 that impacted battery performance?

I just received new Surface Firmware 239.3301.139.0 but there's no changelog yet on the Surface Pro firmware updates page.
