Surface Pro 6 Runs Slower in Dock

My Surface Pro 6 runs noticeably slower when it is connected to the dock. I have a dock at both home and work and see the same reduced performance in both places. This is not a new issue (unlikely related to a recent Win or other software update). Both docks were originally purchased for use with my previous Surface Pro 4 device.

Does anyone else notice such a pattern?

Any thoughts on what might be causing this and how to fix it?

  • Surface Pro 6, i7, 16gb
  • Win 10 10.0.17763 Build 17763
  • >300GB of 500GB hard drive are free

I don't see any obvious issues when looking at Task Manager. CPU, memory and internet are all lightly utilized.

Thanks much for any thoughts.

Do the new surface firmware and/or dock firmware appear to resolve the CPU throttling issue with the surface on the dock?

I also noticed that there's a new Surface Dock firmware package on the MS IT page (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=46703). Surface Dock Updater v2.23.139.0 is gone, and now there is Surface_Dock_FwUpdate_1.42.139_Win10_17134_19.084.31680_0 with following drivers:

    • SurfaceDockIntegration.inf 2.0.303.0  (01.03.2017)
    • SurfaceDockFwUpdate.inf 1.42.139.0 (15.08.2019)

    Both drivers replaced old versions:

    • SurfaceDockIntegration.inf 1.0.6.0 (14.03.2016)
    • SurfaceDockFwUpdate.inf 1.2.6.0 (22.03.2016)

Ok, last time about 239.3301.139.0 you wrote "I finally got someone to tell me "This driver contains some keyboard fixes. "" and this version (239.3301) also is not listed on Surface Pro 6 update history page yet. So I thought you have some other source :)

I don't have any source other than
    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4469841/surface-pro-6-update-history
    for information.
Are you in an Insiders ring now? They test there and do not document --

    Dear Barb,

I just received new Surface Firmware update - 241.1.139.0. Could you please try to find out if this update should resolve throttling issues?
