I have the power settings set to NOT restart when the power is plugged in and NOT to go into sleep mode.

Even with these settings the laptop restarts randomly. I'll be writing code and it restarts. Its random.

I'm literally having the same issue, have you managed to get around the problem?

I am writing this to give an update about my situation. After consulting with a lawyer, I sent Microsoft a letter explaining the issue and requesting a refund. After a while, I was contacted by Microsoft and I was offered a full refund for the device. The process took a few months and I got my full refund. Since then I switched to Dell and I am extremely happy with my new laptop as there are no issues and it does not restart randomly.

What surprised me a lot was how easy it was for Microsoft to accept my case and give me a refund after sending a letter. I had contacted Microsoft support by phone and chat multiple times and spent many hours but they made it very clear that they would not issue a refund. After I mentioned to the agent, who was helping with my case, that many other people are having the same issue with their Surface Laptop 3, I was told that they are not aware of this situation and they are only willing to give me a refund based on my specific circumstances and it would not be applied to everyone. I understand that not everyone has access to an affordable lawyer. I only reached out to a lawyer, since it was covered for me through work benefits. I also understand that not everyone has the time to go through this process. I believe it is Microsoft's responsibility to reach out to their customers and make sure their customers are satisfied with this product. It has been truly disappointing to see how Microsoft has dealt with Surface Laptop 3 with AMD Ryzen processors. I did not feel I was a valued customer. I also know this incident would not have a huge impact on Microsoft's reputation, mainly because it is impossible to ignore the role they play in today's society worldwide and people are still going to do business with them. However, they have lost me as a customer. Throughout this process, I got a feeling from Microsoft that "if you have an issue with us, you have to take us to court where our full-time lawyers would back us up" rather than "I understand the issue you are having with our devices so let us find a resolution that will make you feel like a valued customer." I am happy that my case is resolved and I do not have to worry about random restart of my laptop.

SL3 with Intel, rock solid.  SL3 with AMD - POS and defective.

Chat with their online chat support and they'll likely set you up with a replacement unit. That's what I just did.

I'm assuming you're also running an AMD CPU.
