Surface 3 isn't playing videos

I just received my surface 3 about a week or two. Since then, I've been able to play videos without any problems. Until a few day ago I've noticed that the videos won't play on sites like YouTube, tumblr. If I click on a link, the video will begin to load, and then player will turn black and an error message will display. I havent done any updates recently or installed anything that might be messing with the videos. So I don't know if anyone else has had this issue and may know a way to solve it?

Hi, Clare'

I've been using Microsoft edge and I have tested to see if the videos would play on browsers such as internet explorer nd I was having this issue. I have since done a few updates on my computer and the issue has been resolved. Thank for replying though :)

Hi lynnoliver2228#

Thanks for stopping by the Surface forums!

With a new device the best first step is to ensure you have all the latest updates.  See here.

Assuming you are using the Netflix app you may also consider checking Windows Store to see if you have any apps, i.e. Netflix, have updates available.

If watching videos in the browser, please let us know which one.

Let us know,

Josh

What we have here is a software bug that gets something set in the driver persistent memory (flags or bits of data that the driver wants to retain) causing the driver to stop working. The only way to clear the persistent memory data is to uninstall the driver which is effectively clearing this retained data. Then when you reboot the system it will automatically reinstall the driver with the persistent memory data cleared out. Now it will work for a while. Eventually something causes the driver to save a bit of data in the persistent memory that causes the driver to not work correctly with the videos we watch.

Yes, I am an engineer. I work on product designs that are more complex then this system. I have had similar types of bugs that have taken considerable tracking and tracing of the code to find the root cause. Realtec needs to work this bug and find a solution.

I am unable to play videos on my Surface 3 Windows 10.   I just purchased the tablet and only had it for 2 days.  I have tried Netflix and You Tube. The You Tube video will appear to start by displaying a quick picture from the video then quickly stops and  the screen turns black-gray and an error message displays "your video cannot be played at this time.  Try again later".   And Netflix starts the same way and the error message  is just "Oops".

It's a useless tablet. I put a paddle on the end of mine, and use it to spank the grand kids. It works every time for that.

    Hi Nancy,

We want to get this resolved for you. Please contact our Assisted Support for an in-depth troubleshooting.

    Regards.

I contacted them, and they are useless. Told me uninstall, and reinstall the graphics drivers. The worked for 2 days, and it did the same thing again.
