Hi xiaoyun1,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

For installing drivers on our Surface devices, you may use the msi package for your Surface device. Please follow these steps below:

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose your Surface device model then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

If the issue you experience still persists after the steps above, please use Troubleshoot problems with Windows Hello on Surface to help resolve the problem.

For help with installing drivers on devices other than Surface, please contact your device manufacturer.

May I know what is this issue that you are having with Windows Hello?

When you go to Windows Settings > Accounts> Sign in options > Windows Hello Face, are you getting an error message? If yes, please share the error message you are getting.

If this helps, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

Kind Regards,

Marrion Y.

I have a solution that is working when you uninstalled the driver or windows hello auth has problems.

    Solution:

Even though it is a fairly expensive solution since whole windows has to be re-installed, and it's a shame that there is no simpler option in windows to fix authentication issues, it works! And you lose absolutely nothing, it's like you simply restarted your computer.

This solution was brought to me after a 2h30 call with microsoft tech support about a PIN issue.

Note: I had to do it twice. One time for the PIN (a few month ago) and yesterday I uninstalled the windows hello driver and that was the only solution that worked.

This setting is managed by your organization. Contat your admin for more info.

    how do i fix this?

@KwinnKelly have you installed O&O ShutUp10? That caused me to have "managed by your organization" issues last time. If yes, try to disable it and check again.

    Hi,

Where did you buy this Surface device from? - It is possible that if you bought it used or from a (untrusted) third party retailer, the device could've been tampered with and someone could have removed some of the hardware needed for facial recognition.
