Hi xiaoyun1,

Thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Community.

For installing drivers on our Surface devices, you may use the msi package for your Surface device. Please follow these steps below:

Check what is the current OS Build of your Windows version by going to Settings > System > About.

Go to Download driver and firmware for Surface, choose your Surface device model then click Download on the next page.

Choose the .msi file that matches your current OS Build and click Next.

After downloading, run and install the .msi then Restart.

If the issue you experience still persists after the steps above, please use Troubleshoot problems with Windows Hello on Surface to help resolve the problem.

For help with installing drivers on devices other than Surface, please contact your device manufacturer.

May I know what is this issue that you are having with Windows Hello?

When you go to Windows Settings > Accounts> Sign in options > Windows Hello Face, are you getting an error message? If yes, please share the error message you are getting.

If this helps, we highly encourage you to inform our Community by clicking on Yes or marking my post as an answer. This will help other members who may have the same issue as you. Otherwise, don't hesitate to update us so we can further assist you.

Kind Regards,

Marrion Y.

Sorry- i have no solution.  Tried every step recommendsd and even soent a couple if hours with Microsoft Windows help desk. It is mysteriously fixed now - seems be update related.

It is a lousy company that doesn’t advise tech help and support when they issue an update that removes an important feature like Windows Hello without acknowledging the error and providing specific  guidance for the correction.  I’ll never get these wasted hours back.

    pitiful support.

I don't know everything you've tried so far. This issue seems to impact other brands of computers in addition to Surface. What has worked for SOME people (not all) is the following (in case you have not tried this already).

    1. Paste the following into the search field lower left to open Windows File Explorer in the correct folder

    C:\Windows\System32\WinBioPlugIns\FaceDriver

    1. Right-click on HelloFace.inf and then click "Install"
    2. Check and see if

    HelloFaceMigration.inf

is present in the same folder/directory and then also right click and select "Install" for it as well.

     4) Restart

This has fixed the issue for some, but not all
