Surface Book 2 GPU Driver disappears randomly after May 2019 update

Hi, just recently installed the Windows 10 May update on my Surface Book 2. Now the GPU disappears randomly while in use. The only solution is to reboot the Surface Book 2, or go into the device manager and initiate a scan for the GPU to come back again. It has Nvidia Gforce GTX 1050 version 23.21.13.9140

Are there any plans for Microsoft to release an updated driver to fix this bug?

There are some updates that were pushed to PRODUCTION today https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4055398/surface-book-2-update-history You do NOT need to join Insiders to get these.

October 2019 updates

The following updates are available for all Surface Book 2 devices running Windows 10 April 2018 Update, version 1803 or greater:

are you saying you got an updated firmware from being a beta tester?

they don't publish info or an details while they test with Insiders. it only

gets published after they release to production for ALL customers.

if it IS only a firmware fix and not drivers, firmware is not

revertable/uninstallable, so in theory, provided there is no OS dependency on

1909, you could join the RP ring, get the firmware and the OS update, then roll

back the OS but keep the firmware. there is, of course, risk here. and I don't

know if there is an OS dependency. and I am NOT recommending that people do

this, especially business users.

i am aware but the poster was not clear if the updated firmware was a result of being a beta tester/insider

and yes, there are great risks doing that, historically MS has major issues with updates, you can mess up your entire machine and have to start from scratch

P.S. we don't know if (with today being patch Tuesday) if Microsoft plans to
unleash 1909 for all..
