hi,

My Microsoft Modern Wireless headset just stopped working while I am watching some youtube video. I got no sound from it. It still connected to my PC with attached USB Link that came with the headset.

Somehow the white light on the headset is on, even I switched it off and without connected to a usb-c cable. Very strange and looks like it just froze.

It is a great headset and please help.

Thanks

Kevin

I was suffering with the same issue, but solved it with these steps:

  1. Turn off the headset
  2. Plugged the headset in a cellphone charger (USB-C 20W)
  3. Turn on the headset
  4. Press and hold the Bluetooth and call buttons together for 10 seconds

I don't know if all the steps are necessary, maybe just using the charger is the catch. Good luck everyone!

yeah, it's weird, it works perfectly with my cell phone and with my laptop when working on Bluetooth. As a side gig I also run a sound desk in a church as well as a live streaming PC... now the fun part there is when you realise just how many sources of sound your computer is picking up, and different software will choose different ones to get the sound from!

Interesting, because I have had nothing but problems with bluetooth headsets pairing to the PC which is why I bought this one to begin with. Headsets will pair, but trying to make VOIP calls with them, I'd always get complaints from the caller that they can't hear me.

I have the same issue with mine - however I have found the unit to work far better with a BLUETOOTH connection than with the supplied USB Link. I believe the USB link is the main culprit - if it were my product, I would be telling microsoft to ditch the USB connection and simply supply it with a high quality Bluetooth dongle instead.

I found this particular issue that is fixed by replugging the USB dongle appears to be exclusive to Windows 11.

    • I've had this headset for over a year and had no such issues (Windows 10)
    • A co-worker reported he was having this issue with the same headset. It randomly cuts out, even during use (so it's not a timeout issue), and he had to unplug and replug the USB dongle
    • I recently got a new computer, now running Windows 11 like my co-worker, and I too started experiencing the issue.
    • I reinstalled Windows 10 on this new computer, problem gone.
